--John R.W. Stott, The Cross of Christ (Downers Grove, IL: IVP, 2006), 90-91."It is when our perception of God and man, or of holiness and sin, are askew that our understanding of the atonement is bound to be askew also...The reason why many people give the wrong answers to questions about the cross, and even ask the wrong questions, is that they have carefully considered neither the seriousness of sin nor the majesty of God."

I heard John Stott preach about 15 years ago at our church in Seattle.
His message here is consistent with his statements then.
I am convinced he is absolutely correct, which means I look at my own understanding to check myself first and often.
A wise approach.
Typical, to the point, Stott. ;)
Excellent, thought-provoking quote...especially the part of considering the seriousness of sin.
Yikes...hello conviction.
